The details are still pretty sketchy as far as what was going on in the jail. All we know is they were involved in a fight, they were separated, and at some point this guy went downhill extremely fast and died.

TAPD officers responded to an inmate in need of an ambulance. Initial reports indicate he was involved in an altercation with another inmate and became unresponsive several hours later.

The body was obviously exposed to the elements and was in very bad condition.

Oftentimes somebody makes a traffic stop and the test subject is not going to be compliant, so a lot of time we don't see clear results. Here we can control it. We have controlled test subjects. We can give them tests, so we know what their blood-alcohol content is and then have the officers test them to see if it coincides.

We are still trying to establish who knew what. We don't believe anybody else had anything to do with the actual killing, but if anybody had information about the crime and tried to conceal it, that is an offense also.
